Neck Lift in Ludhiana & Chandigarh, Punjab

Are you tired of having excess flaccid skin on your neck or vertical bands of neck muscles and looking for an aesthetic solution?

The neck is one of those areas where the passage of time and excess fat are evident. The flaccidity, wrinkles and fat that tend to accumulate under the area known as double chin, make a person look older.

A facelift is usually combined with a neck lift procedure to optimize the rejuvenation of the face and neck giving them a harmonious appearance. The Neck Lift, also known as a Cervicoplasty or Platysmaplasty, can eliminate sagging skin under the chin and eliminate the 'turkey neck'.

A neck lift can improve your appearance and increase your confidence in yourself. It is usually done together with a face lift, however, the doctor may deem right to perform only a neck lift to selected patients. When performed alone, the usual result is one or two days of postoperative discomfort and rapid recovery. When performed with a facelift, the recovery takes between 5 to 14 days before it becomes difficult for others to notice the signs of surgery.

The Surgery

Liposuction (Lipoplasty)

If your skin tone is good and there is no hanging skin, the problem could just be the excess fat underneath the chin and perhaps along the jawline. In that case, the liposuction is the solution to your problem and it may suffice alone.

When liposuction is performed underneath the chin, it is known as submental contouring. In this procedure, one or two small incisions are made on the underside of the chin and/ or in the crease around the earlobes. Thereafter, a cannula is inserted beneath the skin and into the fatty tissue to break up and suction out the excess fat. The skill and judgment of cosmetic surgeon while performing this procedure is critical as taking out too much of the neck fat can result in unwanted results.

When a layer of muscle situated on the each side of the neck known as the Platysma becomes loose and there is an occurrence of "banding" or vertical cords, the procedure that is carried out to tighten the superficial neck muscles is known as Platysmaplasty. This procedure can be carried out in insolation or performed in conjunction with liposuction to reduce excess fatty tissue. This procedure, when performed in isolation, can easily be accomplished through a small incision on the underside of the chin. The tightening or repositioning of the underlying tissues makes it possible to achieve dramatic results without putting any tension on the skin or creating a pulled look.

Suture Suspension

Your plastic surgeon may want to further support your neck with sutures, mesh or AlloDerm, to achieve contouring or desired results in the neck.

Z-Plasty Or W-Plasty

These are the techniques used for neck contouring, usually in mature men for correcting looseness of the neck.

Changes of the Neck with Ageing:

Different areas of the face and neck are affected differently by the ageing process. We usually see the following changes with ageing of the neck:

  • Thin and thick wrinkles of the skin and pigmentation changes due to sun damage
  • Inelasticity of the skin of the neck and poor skin tone
  • Division of the muscles of the neck vertically, an exaggerated fall with an obtuse cervicomental angle (missing acute juvenile neck angle)
  • Excess skin and thinning of the neck skin

Loose, flaccid skin under the chin requires hardening with a laser. If the skin is too excessive, it may have to be removed with excision surgery. If you have visible vertical stripes on the neck, they will have to be tensed in the midline of the neck muscles. Deposits of fat in the neck can be removed with liposuction or direct excision.

Your surgeon helps you decide if it is only necessary to remove the fat- for which you will practice a liposuction of the neck, tighten the skin- which will be carried out by means of the neck lift or if you should combine this surgery with another treatment to improve the aesthetic appearance.
